What we process
- Visiting pages. To deliver a page, our server necessarily receives your IP address and the address of the page you ask for. We count page views per page and day; the stored counts contain no IP address, cookie or other identifier.
- Partner links. Links marked "Partner" pass through a short redirect on our site. We count clicks per day, offer and country page; again with no IP address or identifier.
- Service cards. When a page loads, your browser asks our partner-link service which service cards fit the page. The request carries the page address, the name of the website that sent you and any campaign tags in the address, and no cookies or identifiers. We count how often cards are shown per page. The passport you pick stays in your browser.
- The AI explainer ("Ask about" boxes). To apply rate limits, our server combines your IP address with the date and turns it into a keyed hash (HMAC-SHA-256 with a secret key held only on our servers); your IP address itself is not stored. With that hash we keep the times of your questions in the last minute and your number of questions that day, in server memory or in our hosting provider's rate-limit store, and they expire at the end of the day (UTC). Without the secret key the hash can't be traced back to an address. We also keep a count of all questions that day, with no identifier. We do not store your question or the answer. Please don't include names, passport numbers or other personal details in a question.
- Your browser. Your shortlist, chosen passport and similar settings are kept in your own browser's local storage. They are never sent to us. A shortlist share link contains only route identifiers.
- Exchange rates. When we update the site, we fetch daily reference currency rates from external rate services. No visitor data is involved.
Purposes and legal bases
- Delivering the site, keeping it secure and preventing abuse (for example rate limits on the explainer): our legitimate interests in running a safe, working service.
- Answering a question you submit to the explainer: performing your request.
- Aggregate page and click counts: our legitimate interest in understanding which pages are useful. These counts are not personal data.
Cookies and consent
We set no cookies and use no advertising or social tracking scripts, so there is no cookie banner. Pages load a cookie-free analytics script that counts visits without identifying you. Before we introduce any advertising or affiliate cookies, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it and update this policy first.
Who receives data
- Our hosting provider runs the servers that deliver the site once it is public, and processes server traffic on our behalf.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone else.
How long we keep data
- Explainer rate-limit records (a keyed hash of your IP address and the date, never the address itself, with your question times and count): until the end of the day (UTC).
- Questions and answers: not stored.
- Aggregate page and click counts: kept while useful; they identify no one.
- Browser storage: until you clear it in your browser.
Your rights
Hong Kong (PDPO). You may ask whether we hold personal data about you, request a copy, and ask us to correct it. You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong.
EU and UK (GDPR and UK GDPR). You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability where they apply, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority, such as the authority in your country of residence or the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
California. We do not sell or share personal information, including for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information.
Because we keep almost no personal data, we may be unable to link a request to you. Write to contact@stayglobe.app and we will answer within the time the law allows.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly process their personal data.
Changes
If our processing changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
