# Moving to Bangladesh

4 ways to move to Bangladesh in our guide: 1 investor route, 2 work visas, 1 student visa.

No digital nomad visa. Checked against official sources on 12 October 2026.

**Longest first stay:** **1 year** Work visa

Bangladesh is a country where the visa system is closely tied to business, investment, and institutional sponsorship. Most long-stay routes begin with a recommendation from a government body such as BIDA or BEPZA, so the paperwork is specific and the process is formal.

## Tax

Residents of Bangladesh are taxed on income from all sources, in and outside Bangladesh, while non-residents are taxed only on income that arises or is received in Bangladesh. Residence is tested on days present in the income year, not on your visa status. The rates are set each year by the Finance Act, so the income bar and thresholds change.

Standard rules
